While major airports across the country are experiencing delays and long security lines, the Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport has been unaffected.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials are currently working without pay due to the partial government shutdown on Dec. 21, but Rob Barnett, director of the Owensboro airport said they have not had a problem with the TSA Screeners showing up for work.

“Fortunately, our TSA Screeners do an excellent job and have continued to be very reliable during the shutdown,” he said. “We have not encountered any problems.”

Federal employees are prohibited by law to take vacation during shutdowns and have limited rights when it comes to striking.

If the government shutdown lasts through Saturday it will be the longest shutdown in U.S. history.
